Not Focused on Numbers,
Focused on Quality
Breeding season is an exciting event on Heritage Family Farm. We love breeding females to specific bulls, so to fit the needs of the farm and of others. We breed females based on their phenotype and genetics. Other factors that are very important to us as we select bulls for breeding are hair coat, udder structure, docitlity, and frame size.
Our cattle are bred also for fleshing ability. HFF raises cattle on a low imput diet of forage. We have found that an animal adapted to a minimal diet will produce as well as an animal on a high ration. Thus, females that are produced from Heritage Family Farm adapt easily in almost any enviornment, becuase they are prepared for envionments that have limited ration.
Quality is the focus of Heritage Family Farm. Any animal that does not meet our quality criteria is culled. It is very important to us that we produce and provide cattlemen with superior animals that will continue to produce high grade cattle for years to come.

Behind the Cow
Behind every cow is a bull. This aspect of Heritage Family Farm is very important to us. Selecting bulls for use is one of the most important and thrilling events that take place. Sorting females to breed to specific bulls is a lot of hard work, but the reward of a well-mated calf is worth it.
We select our bulls very carefully. Our bulls have to meet certain criteria in order to be used. We require them to be slick-haired, docile, easy-fleshing, have good feet, an excelent phenotype, and proven parentage.
